Since the introduction of the National Quality Standards (NQS) in 2012, early childhood education and care services across Australia have been required to examine and reflect on the services they provide for children and families, and to implement processes that help them to strive for continuous improvement.
An assessment and rating process was also developed to ensure that all services that are educating and caring for young children are meeting requirements under seven National Quality Standards.
It is compulsory for all services to have a QIP (Quality Improvement Plan) to support educators to identify Quality Areas that are strengths, and also identify those areas that are in need of improvement. The development of a QIP is a collaborative self-assessment process with staff, families and children all being involved to identify goals and strategies that will help the service to improve across all seven National Quality Standards.
The QIP is a ‘work in progress’ and records information such as areas for improvement, goals, achievements and strengths. We encourage input and feedback from the community on the quality of our service at any time.
Families may choose to be involved in a more formal way such as reviewing policies or nominating for the committee but we also welcome informal feedback, suggestions or questions relating to any of the seven National Quality Standards.
As a community kinder we rely on our wonderful families to ensure we can continue to operate and offer the best service for our community. If you would like to be involved or have input into our QIP please contact our Educational Leader Holly at holly@progresskinder.org.au.
